State of Ohio - Lieutenant Governor's InnovateOhioRPA for Data Management
When Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted took office in 2019, he discovered a significant backlog of unreviewed rules.
Ohio had over 240,000 regulations that would take a person 21 weeks to read.
RPA was used to:
- Clear the backlog within the first 100 days of the DeWine-Husted Administration.
- Compare and link data sets – a task that could take humans months or years.
- Perform text analytics on the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) to speed up the identification of outdated, conflicting, or redundant regulations.
Any regulatory topic can now be researched and analyzed in seconds.
Regulations were narrowed down to those that are necessary for the health and safety of Ohioans.
